This year I prefer traditional non mainstream moon cakes.

Mom bought this savoury Teo Chew moon cake, baked by Ipoh Teo Chew Lang. It was one of the best moon cake I had this year, though I only get to eat 1/8 of it. The paste is a combination of green bean paste, (I think it's) Walnut nuts, and guaci. It was so fresh and soft that after we cut, the nuts falls apart lol.

Another sweet Teo Chew moon cake given by my bf also very unique. Too bad we gobbled all before I can take a photo haha. The moon cake is in flat round shape, diameter slightly bigger than the normal moon cake. The paste has winter melon, sesame, and dried kam kat. And maybe there's other secret ingredIents that I don't know haha.

Next year, I'll hunt for more classic non mainstream moon cakes! 😋

Definitely more unique than the mainstream ones, which are mostly just sweet sugar haha

@FatJedi, yalor those mainstream ones are full of artificial favouring and sweet sugar only. And probably has tons of preservative too. I think traditional bakery are still better.
