"I'd love to go vegan but vegan products are so expensive! Plus I really don't have the time or energy to make my own energy bars, cookies, bread and snacks. I can't just survive on bananas and carrot sticks every day".
I've heard this many times from people with the best of intentions and plans. Here's my own money-saving hack that may help you too -- scour the Bargain Bins of upmarket fancypants supermarkets. Products that are a few weeks shy of their Best-By dates are marked down to only 20-50% of their usual prices but most dry and packaged goods can keep for at least 2-3 months past their Best-By date as long as the packaging is intact and no weevils or fungus have made their way in. I bought vegan and organic cookies, crackers, snacks, sauces, soup mixes and pickles from the bargain bin of Cold Storage Sunway Pyramid today and these products cost me less than conventional products would. Also, buying from the bargain bin prevents food wastage and is therefore good for the environment!
