As the smallest member of the squirrel family, chipmunks are incredibly quick and energetic, and that allows them to run and hide from predators like hawks, foxes, and snakes. One of their most distinct characteristics is that they hibernate. But instead of storing fat, they store food. And when another chipmunk tries to steal it, they act swiftly to deal with the snatch thief.
