I’m glad that I’ve reached a point in my food journey where I can assemble a wholesome meal with half as much effort - and panic! - as I used to. On New Year’s Day in Denmark a couple years ago, we didn’t realize that all the shops would close early, so I had to come up with a last-minute dinner idea using mostly whatever was in my brother-in-law’s kitchen. It never occurred to my BIL that wraps could be homemade, and he marveled at the final result. The kitchen muscle, like all skill muscles, work more efficiently when used regularly. My culinary pull-ups are pretty fly. (My real pull-ups? Ask me again in 3 years!) The point I’m addressing is the belief of one never being capable of making decent food becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. There are so many affordable cooking courses, accessible recipe blogs, and an extensive range of products at the supermarket that allow you to experiment and have fun with food regardless of what level you are at. I’m no Nigella myself, but I love learning how nourishment can look appealing too, and it’s a gift that keeps on giving.
