RECIPE: Cacao Za'atar Balls by #RawChefYin.
1/2 cup activated almonds
1/2 cup activated walnuts
1 teaspoon activated black sesame seeds
1/3 cup organic cacao powder from @pristinefoodfarm
1 teaspoon red maca powder from @pristinefoodfarm
1/3 cup dates, pitted
1 tablespoon Rainbow Vitality Enzyme from@straitswholefoods
Handful of curry leaves
1/4 teaspoon Bario salt from @kimberlyo95
To coat: Za'tar and cacao powder
Maca chips and Cacao nibs
Chocolate bar - melted
Process almonds, walnuts and sesame seeds into food processor until fine. Place remaining ingredients into the food processor (I used my Thermomix) and process until sticky. Use hands to form mixture into balls. Roll balls in Za'atar and cacao to coat. Dip into melted chocolate to coat, if you like. Sprinkle on maca chips and cacao nibs. Serve and enjoy!
This recipe is adapted from the Superfoods for life Cacao book which I borrowed from the library. I thought it would taste even better when coated with chocolate and yes, it was amazing. The Za'atar brings the cacao together in such an interesting way plus the curry leaves are a nod to Malaysian flavours.
