Jia De Bao at Port Dickson

We were doing a day-trip to Port Dickson and decided it was just easier to have lunch there since I was already busy making snacks and dinner.

I asked around for recommendations and some people suggested Mama Soong but unfortunately it was closed on Monday.

I also checked on Happy Cow and asked on the vegetarian and vegan groups. Ooops, I forgot to check the GoVeggie Malaysia app. (just checked and it seems like there’s 10 results).
In the end, decided on Jia De Bao Vegetarian since it’s at the PD waterfront and I wanted to check out the waterfront.

On the Google Maps, the reviews weren’t that great but I figured we were there for the seaview and not so much of the food.

We had:
1. Vegetarian Assam Fish Rice RM15
2. Vegetarian Rendang Mutton Rice RM15
3. Black Bean Vegetarian Rice RM15

I asked to make sure there’s no eggs or dairy. The lady said they don’t cook any eggs in the meals. But I pointed out that the photo has eggs. She said it’s an old photo.

NOTE: I forgot to check if the vegetarian mock meats have eggs in them. Please double check if you go there. Even if the lady says there are no eggs in any of the vegetarian dishes. In Malaysia, we have to always double confirm!

Unfortunately they don’t offer any vegetarian BKT anymore. Sobs. I wanted to have that coz I saw it on the Google Map pix.

The food was…hmm…ok. Nothing to shout about. I don’t like to eat mock meat but the menu was very limited. I liked the asam fish taste but I didn’t like the rendang. It felt like it came out from a box.

They used to have a whole vegetarian restaurant, but the place has closed and I think they’ve just consolidated everything together into JDB Mart.
The menu has both non-vegetarian and vegetarian options.
The view was great though - we could see a bit of the sea.
The lady serving us was nice as well.

I don’t know the actual address coz we followed the one on Google Map and then had to walk down a bit more.
