In a world first, Chinese researchers have successfully cloned macaques using the same technique that yielded the famous clone Dolly the sheep.

The two macaques, named Zhong Zhong and Hua Hua, are genetically identical.

Unfortunately, the objective of breeding such cloned monkeys is for biomedical research and drug testing.
